First I want to try to answer your question, and then give you some food for thought.
NO! You should NOT consider a male ob/gyn if you have those types of reservations. (mind you, I am not critizing you for your reservations, I am just saying that you would probably not be comfortable with a male if you are thinking that they "enjoy" their occupation from a sexual standpoint)
The food for thought part: I have had both male and female ob/gyns. There are pros and cons to both. Females tend to be more gentle and give you more time to explain things that you have to say, but, believe it or not males tend to believe you more about pain, pms, etc. (I think it's because females have their periods, cramps, etc and if they don't cramp terribly with their period, then you must be a wimp if you complain if you do. Just a guess. )
I have also worked for doctors as their assistant for many years. I have worked pediatrics, trauma, and for family doctors. With general and family doctors I have assisted with thousands of paps, pelvics, vaginal rashes, yeast infections, ingrown pubic hairs, and hemorrhoids. All the doctors I have worked for were male. I have been very close friends with most of the doctors I have worked for. We joked, talked about all types of crazy things, telling jokes and laughing, And I can honestly say I NEVER, EVER heard a doctor speak sexually about a patient on whom they had performed any type of sexual procedure. (Oh, and some of these women were fantastically beautiful, some terribly discusting, some insanely old, etc.
So when you believe that a man would spend almost 25 years studying their butts off, becoming in debt up to their eyes to pay for medical school just so they can stare a vaginas all day, I believe you are just mis-informed. Not to mention, you live in the land of sex,, don't you think it would be one hell of a lot cheaper to go to a strip club?
Also, it is law that a male doctor MUST have a female nurse present with ANY type of exam that necessitates a female undressing to expose her breasts, bottom or genital area. Not so with a female doctor, they are not required to have a nurse, and just think, I wonder how many female doctors are lesbians? Just a thought.
I hope that you find a doctor, male or female, that you feel comfortable with. "Female" visits are never a joy, but having a doctor that you feel comfortable with makes it ever so much less painful. Good luck!!!! :)

I am sure there is a legit reason that they want to be an OB/GYN other than looking at vaginas all day long for a living. No one would spend that kind of money and time just to get their "jollies" all day. As for being trusted, I am sure they can. They have to go thru the same schooling as women OB/GYNs do. You could consider a male but if you are uncomfortable with having a male OB then go with a female. I really think its all about preference.
I prefer to have a female OB/GYN because that is what I am more comfortable with. If you prefer going to a female, then by so, do it, if you don't care, go for either one. Also, I think for male OB/Gyn doctors they do have to have a female nurse in the room with them when performing any kind of exam. I know when I went to a male doctor for one, he could not start the exam until his female nurse was in the room with him. I think they do this for not only the safety of the patient but to cover the doctor's butt in case the woman says he tried something when he really didn't. Then there would be a witness for not only you but the doctor as well.

I don't want to sound mean or anything but "in the not so long ago -old days" before the '70s, there was nothing but male ob/gyns cuz women didn't go to medical school and become doctors like they do today- so, to some people, having a woman gyn is kinda strange.
I think that you need to get over what preconcieved notions you have about men and find a good doctor based on the merit of work not what sex they are.

I've had both male and female OB/GYNs, and did not find a trust issue either way. There is a lot more to being an OB/GYN than looking at vaginas all day. They also get to deliver babies, now how fun would that be if you were a doctor... bringing life into the world instead of seeing only disease and death. Good luck with your choice!

"Why are there male OB/GYN's?" Why do you care if a guy needs to enter this medical container??? it truly is HIS life and HIS determination. adult men have each accurate to grow to be obstetricians or gynecologists; those are literally not professions made completely to women. On a part be conscious, there are adult men preferring women folk medical doctors. each person has their own possibilities, inspite of gender. EDIT: I’m satisfied you loved my edit. the very shown reality that you reviewed my submit assorted cases in the previous noticing this edit exhibits that both I hit a nerve or you've been dazzled by way of my answer and for this reason felt the favor to envision it lower back. the former could be real in case you theory what I reported become “vulgar” and “crude." You requested why there are men in this career, and that i basically advised you why no longer and requested you why it truly is any of your difficulty. If a guy needs to enter this container, let him be. You shouldn’t be asking “why” as if it concerns that there are male OB/GYNs. of direction, it really is a distinctiveness that pastimes him the most. As I stated in the previous, all of us has their own tastes and possibilities. with regard on your question about citation, you probably did make an allegation. You alleged that you “examine” someplace that women folk desire male OB/Gyns. because they own particular features. think ofyou've got reported the position you examine this so human beings comprehend you’re no longer making this up. it truly is what I meant after I stated you cite your resources. And even as did I shout or “get protective?” I basically reported the reality and also you right away choose me as having an “extremely undesirable attitude” and needing a “personality adjustment?” Now, aren’t YOU jumping into conclusions?

You need to stop being so paranoid. If you don't trust the male Ob/GYn, then just go with a female.
When they look at vagina's all day long as you put it, they're doing their job...I'm sure not everyones bits smells like roses down there!
My Ob/gyn is a male and he's very professional, in depth and takes time to answers my questions....and I'm totally comfortable with him...having said that however he is gay.

It's not like every patient is some hot chick, there are so many god awful diseases and conditions for the vagina alone, so anybody who completes medical school specializing as an OB/GYN you should at least assume they understand the reality of it, or at least that they are competent enough to know what they are doing. Look at it from their perspective, they have spent several years going to school for it, and if they pull any crap, they will have their license revoked and have a serious ding on their record which essentially will null all the years they spent studying. Most people who complete medical school have at least a basic sense of integrity, even if they are closet perverts, they will provide professional service. If it were me, I would find appeal in the job because it sounds quirky, and that's how I like my jobs, haha.

It wasn't too long ago that male OB/GYN's were all there were, it was a man's profession for sure.
I am certain there are plenty of pervets out there working in the medical profession so my advice to you would be to ask around.. People (women) you trust will hopefully be able to better guide you. Please know you can have anyone you choose to go looked up by the AMA, they will have their entire professional record available for you, this will include any complaints or mal-practice information. I would advise this for any Doctor... The Doctor/Patient relationship is a serious one, you need to be comfortable and you need to feel secure in their care.
Good Luck

I doubt looking at diseased and infected vaginas is much of a turn-on. If anything, male OB/GYNs probably become desensitized to it, even if they had less-than-pure motives for going into the field.
I wouldn't feel comfortable going to a male, but that's mostly because of modesty. I doubt one would hurt you and risk a malpractice suit, especially when they could go to a much more convenient strip club or find a prostitute somewhere else in Vegas.

Are you serious?
Yes, male OB-GYN's are very good and can be trusted. Why do they do it? They wanted to be a doctor and it's lower malpractice insurance. Hello??? They're doctors. If they want titty they will go to a bar for that. Typically they don't hit on their patients. Besides, can you imagine all the gross, STD infected vaginas they see? I don't think it's a big turn-on.
Sorry, one to many stupid questions and I have a husband asking stupid questions now too. Geez!
