I have a friend who lives in West Englewood in Chicago and I plan to visit for a few weeks. I've heard some not so nice things about the area. Please tell me your personal accounts; I've done a bit of research already, but I need personal opinions.

Englewood is one of the not so good parts of Chicago. I wouldn't let it keep you away though. Just be smart about things. Public transportation is easily accesible. However if you plan on clubbing or going to bars, I would make sure you have a ride, the last thing you want to do is be walking around englewood at 2am drunk. If you use a car for transportaion you should be ok. Even if you don't I'd just be careful about traveling late at night.

i use to live on 64th &lowe and its not a pretty sight over there if you dont have to dont go to the club i know its cold but people stand out dont! dont party over there just stay close to home i mean like in the house
