I reckon it's a bad idea, especially with cold and flu going around. Am I wrong?

that is too early to take an infant who is only 3 weeks old out anywhere this time of year. IT IS RSV SEASON. My daughter got RSV when she was only 2 1/2 weeks old and was hospitilized for 2 weeks in PICU. Tell her not to take the baby out. especially to a place where there are a lot of kids....kids bring germs. Too many risks involved.

That is up to your friend the mom to decide, but you do have a point that a school game with lots of kids is a very high risk area for exposure to germs, not to mention the noise that will probably make the experience miserable for the baby, and probably mom too if the baby spends the whole game crying. if she does go, keep the baby warm, wash hands a lot, limit the baby's exposure to other people...it is a safe bet that tons of people are going to want to look, touch and hold a cute little baby. a light crib blanket over the carrier will act as a barrier to drafts, light, noise, and hopefully some germs, too. throw it in the wash and change everyone's clothes when you get home...I just saw a pediatrician on tv stating that this was an ideal way to help school kids stay healthy...having them change out of their school clothes when they get home and washing them to get rid of the germs, instead of spreading them around the house.

Taking a baby out is a way for it to build up immunities. If the baby is healthy why not. Just make sure that it is dressid warm when she goes out.

I wouldn't be going out, much less take my 3 week old baby. How old are you guys, and where are your parents? If you guys are older than why would you be going to a middle school game any way.

My baby is 5 weeks old and I dread taking him out right now. Not because of germs, but because it throws his schedule off and he will not sleep at night as well..but thats my routine with my baby. Her parenting skills are up to her! If she wants to show the baby off, why not? :)

No! All babies must be kept in a silent, sterile plastic bubble for the first four years of life.

It makes them ever so well-adjusted and germ-resistant when they start school!

Babies need to be exposed to the outside world. That is how they start to build up immunities. He'll sleep through the noise.

I agree with you -- all those germs and all that noise! Maybe I am overly cautious (but aren't you supposed to be with your children?) but I would not bring the baby.

Unless the baby was premature or has health complications that your friend's doctor told her not to take the baby out, why not?
