I mean they're already poor to begin with, what makes them think that it's smart to have 5 or 6 kids when they can barely take care of themselves? Doesn't this reinforce the notion that poor people are poor mostly because they're stupid? There are some exceptions to this but mainly I think poor people in developed countries are poor because of laziness and stupidity, which makes them think it's a good idea to pop out 6 kids when they're already poor as f*ck. Forced sterilization I say.

I was really talking about the poor in the developed countries not third world countries. Also, I don't buy that excuse that they're too poor to buy condoms. Come on, a packet of condoms is a few dollars. Maybe if Daddy cut down on the six packs of beer it wouldn't be an issue

My family is from a third world country (Philippines). My dad's father was the principal of our local elementary school and his mom was the first grade teacher there. They had 8 kids in all. The oldest became a lawyer/engineer, the second a chemistry teacher, the third a doctor, the fourth another engineer, the fifth a nurse, the seventh a chief of police- later a lawyer (my dad), and the youngest a first grade teacher like her mom.
I think the reason why they had eight kids was because: 1. they had a good sexual relationship, 2. they didn't have a TV, and 3. abortion was a no-no..... - birth control was something not thought as necessary when married at that time.
Nowadays people do know about family planning, but just like in rich countries, condom is not something everyone likes to use.... unfortunately people there do not have the money to try other- better methods.... most don't even have an insurance. Not having sex is what would be the most effective, but can you imagine how hard it is to be abstinent when the lights are out- most don't even have electricity by the way..... Just be happy you are from a rich country and have nothing else to do but think about other people's misfortune, only seeing the symptoms of poverty, but not fully understanding their situation. Forced sterilization? Believe me- I'm sure a lot of the people there don't have to be forced, if you can pay the procedure for them- but many will also resist because of their beliefs based on their religion.
In India- as you perhaps know... people have a lot of children, because they believe that the more kids they have, the better their chances of being taken care of when they get old. No matter how few kids they have- kids die because of illnesses etc.... the fortunate once will survive against all odds- no medical insurance and all..... so might as well have many. Do you get this? It does make sense to me.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Even in the 19th century it was this way. In a book I read from the time, it was saying how learned people ( those who have real jobs and attended university ) have 3 or less kids. And, have more than enough money to support them.
While the poor, could have up to ten children!

NOW:
Middleclass and upper class people have 3 or less kids as well and most of the time, have no problem supporting them
Poor people can have anywhere between 1 to 6 kids.

I dont know maybe the woman is addicted to sex and likes babies or something. I don't know where they have in their head that they can have tons of babies.

When I was in high school my Algebra teacher told us about intercepting a note between two girls. The writer was telling her friend how she had decided to have a child but had not yet decided who to have father her child. The welfare system has become a career choice. And they get their 'raises' by having another child.

Unfortunately, as these people have grown up with their grandmothers, mothers, aunts and sister - and extended communities - on the welfare dole, they see no other options for their lives.

Poverty is hard to escape. Although we were lower middle-class, I once had to explain to someone that I couldn't take the bed I was sleeping in when I left my parents house because someone else was sleeping in it too. Setting up a house is expensive.

I don't believe anyone who makes welfare their career will ever escape it.

poor people have more kids because they dont work or work enough, so they have all the time in a the world to get it on. People in middle class status or higher work more than the poor, so they are exhausted with work, chores, and what have you. Not to mention states with welfare, the more kids they have the more money they get for there drugs or whatever they waste their money on that keeps them poor...Its crap. If youre poor, after one or two kids the state should force you to get fixed and actually do something to help them make their own money to support their fam. Its all a bunch crap.... It makes me mad too

federal funding. they have some logic that the more kids they have the more money they can get from the government. Kids arent family members....they're assits! So they dress the kids in rags and give them abosolutely no chance for success. the kids grow up and learn this and thus generation and generation of unfit irresponsible selfish parents are made. I know this for a fact when one day i said i was upset cause i couldnt afford to raise a child. woman i knew stated to me that that is what she does. Repulsive!

how about this- they are poor BECAUSE they have children. they start having them feeling like children are going to fill up the emptiness they feel inside, it will be someone to love them. and they want the attention (from pregnancy, baby showers, etc) then they have another one because "you can't have any only child, that's just wrong, your child will be all weird and lonely". then they're depressed because they were living in close if not in poverty in the first place and are now officially poor. so they have sex as a pick me up. they can't afford condoms because they have to feed two kids, and who cares about another kid? they'll give the new kid the old kids's clothes, so on and so forth

poor countries are not lazy or stupid, They are just not aware of birth control, the women there work from sun up to sun down and the men do the same, this is the way of life for them, that's why people from other countries are there to help educate them, by all means they are not lazy.

Not true. Middle class outnumber the poor due to finance in relation to their economic status. The poor are a branch apart from rich and middle class society.

Now, poor people are getting educated and aiding themselves.
Why you worried, they not having your babies?

I agree to your point to some extent. In the US most of the time the one's that keep having children and cant afford them are on welfare or (I appologize) Catholic. Because the church dosen't believe in steralization. Other underdeveloped countries dont have the means, water, soil or the money to help their people or to properly educate them.

Poor people are usually less educated.....they dont' understand the concept of birth control, or aren't smart enough to know how to use it. This is seen around the globe....from the US to Africa to China. People who aren't educated don't understand medications and how to use them...or even condoms.
