My due date is on Wednesday and I have a doc appointment tomorrow. My last appointment showed me at 2.5 cm dialated and 75% effaced. My contractions have been getting more frequent and more powerful and painful in the past few days. I had a bloody show about 5 days ago too. How likely is it my doc will just decide to break my water and induce me at my appointment than wait?

Be patient. If there is no medical reason that baby needs to come out now, then it's best to let your body and your baby decide when labor should come. Labor will be easier and you'll know baby is ready. Plus.....labor is easier with the bag of water intact.

He doesn't NEED to, and until there's a medical reason to induce, you're better off going into labor naturally.

Trust me; I understand what it's like. I was 40 weeks and 3 days at my last appointment. I was completely effaced and (get this!) 4 cm dilated. I had bloody show a few WEEKS before that.
I went into labor naturally at 41 weeks and 1 day. Think of it this way...the more you're dilated before you go into active labor, the shorter your labor will be...mine was 8 hours 9 minutes, start to finish (from first contraction to baby out!), and that was my first baby.
If you are induced, you could have an EXTREMELY painful labor, and breaking your water carries numerous potentially dangerous and needless complications (cord prolapse, more painful contractions because there's no cushioning, more chance of fetal distress....and all of these increase the likelihood of a c-section).
Also, a lot of doctors will put you "on the clock "from the time they break your water...if you haven't had the baby (and not all women go into labor from their water being broken) within 24 hours, a c-section is likely.

If you're due on Wednesday, the possibliity is more than likely. I had the same thing happen cuz I was GBS positive and needed antibiotics before delivering. He induced me when I was 60% effaced, and 2 cm dialated.

Not likely....I have never known a doctor to induce "just because" before the due date, even if by 1 day. Your labor sounds like it's progressing prefectly fine and there is no reason for it now. Good Luck though!

every doc is different. My water broke at 38 weeks so I didn't need to be induced but a friend of mine was dilated about as much as you and he did not induce her until 2 weeks past her due date.As a result her baby had to be born via c-section because she was so big.Hopefully your doc will not make you wait that long!

you would be 39 weeks and at the same time as technically you're finished time era and wellbeing facility rules enable optionally available inductions at that element, my question is WHY? what's the frenzy? in case you're healthful and so is toddler, then a needless to say occuring hard artwork would desire to be the objective simply by fact this is what's maximum secure for you and your toddler. Inductions are medically invasive suggestions, attempting to tension your physique into hard artwork while this is not waiting to realize this on this is very own in simple terms will improve risks for issues and will improve possibility which you will finally end up with a c-section. i could individually refuse any furnish of induction until a minimum of 40-one weeks until there replaced right into a scientific clarification for it. i understand this is tempting once you're so close and you're desirous to hold your toddler on your palms and be performed with being pregnant, yet yet another week or 2 is managable, and ideally a needless to say occuring hard artwork would desire to constantly be the objective in a healthful being pregnant. draw close in there, stable success. **Edited to function: "risk-free" is a relative time era in being pregnant and confusing artwork & delivery. specific, inductions are "risk-free", yet they at the instant are not as risk-free as a needless to say occuring hard artwork, and that's a fact.

just tell him that you're ready. if you had a bloody show he should've sent you to the hospital and since you're contractions are stronger now then he should just go ahead and let you have your baby.
