I agree with the 1-99 thing, but if you are referring to secret projects like area 51, theres a conspiracy theory that there is an "area 52" somewhere in the rockies. Other than the name of a location in the desert, area 42 has no other meaning.

Yes of course.
Area 51 got it's name from the divisions on the map of the dessert, instead of referring to it by longitude and latitude the whole desert was divided into 'areas' from 1 to 99. It just so happens that the section were the secret buildings reside are in Area 51. So, there are 98 other adjacent 'areas'.
