He's 43... but strikeouts per inning is the best indicator of whether a pitcher still has 'stuff', and Johnson still had 172 strikeouts in 203 or so innings. I'd say he'll still be a decent pitcher at least this year... 180 innings, 4.50 ERA.

i does not be shocked to make certain the Giants %. up the two Beltre or Crede next. there are a great form of variables while it is composed of this group. Take Matt Cain, the guy had a three.50 era and nonetheless lost 15 video games, now in the event that they could get this guy run help then he's able to winning 20 video games. and then there is Zito, if he some how can locate his groove returned he ought to win 15 video games. Jonathan Sanchez additionally has the expertise to win video games and we already comprehend Randy and Tim will do there activity. They have been given a greater bullpen, a shown closer, and a few good veterans in Winn, Rowand, Molina, Renteria and if Lewis and Sandoval enhance on final season they could have a reasonably good line up there, yet they nonetheless lack potential. On paper this group can compete for the susceptible west yet all of us comprehend that on paper do no longer propose something.

Randy Johnson has been an outstanding pitcher and I certainly think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. But, to return to Arizona at this point in his career doesn't seem to make much sense. He is having more injuries, and he has lost a little on his fastball. On the other hand, many of us would do the same thing for the money he's making.

the tank is running low....he can't have too much more in him. THe deal the D-Backs gave him was lucrative and ridiculous. He'll have his moments every once in a while, but he is no longer overpowering. Randy Johnson made his mark as a dominating presence on the mound thanks to his upper ninety nearly triple digit fastball. He doesn't have anything like that anymore, his fastball has lost it's zip. The deal does almost guarantee that he will get his 300th win with the Diamondbacks which enhances his return to Arizona, but because he no longer is dominating "Big Unit" doesn't seem like something to call him.

I am sure he has some good games left in his arm, but he will be inconsistent at best. Getting out of that pressure cooker in the Bronx will help, but at his age, how much?
