I live in Florida, I am from Georgia.

Yes and no. While women are able to enter any career of their choosing now, women must still bear children and resist nature's hormones to put our offspring in daycares while we return to work. Employers can't always be made to accomodate for working mothers needing time off so this a difficult issue.

I don't see a clear-cut answer to this question nor do I see a solution in the near future.

In the 21st century all individuals should be treated equally regardless of sex, race, color, or creed. Many people don’t feel that that is the case at hand. I don’t feel that equality between individuals is no longer based on whether you are a male or a female. I believe it is based on the person. Granted there are still things that are stereotyped. That will never change. With society today everything is labeled; man, woman, black, white, etc. Anymore it’s not always the case. Any person in the United States has equal rights by law. If a woman wants to be a CEO of a fortune 500 company she is able to. Just like a man, if she works hard and puts in the time there is nothing else that would hold her back. There are issues that may occur if the person hiring for the position is a sexes. There are still people out there who feel that men will always be better, harder workers but as time goes on and they are proven wrong their outlook on things are changing. With women gaining more strength and self confidence their attitudes are changing as well. We are fighting more for the things we want and strive to get it. Some of the older traditions are even changing slowly but surely; mainly traditions that pronounce male superiority. Prime example would be marriage. The last name issue was never questioned. The woman would take the man’s last name with no thought to it. Taking the last name was basically like announcing ownership. That is not expectable these days. I don’t know exact statistics but if you were to compare the women 20 years ago to the women today I bet 100% of women took their husbands last names compared to the women today. Now-a-days women either keep their last names or hyphenate along with her husband. There are still women that take the husbands name but it’s not as definite as it was back then.

Women are just as capable as men. It is becoming more and more known as the days go by and women are proving their selves. Granted the country may not be ready for there to be a woman president, but I am sure that it is soon to come.

P.S I honestly beleive that a women would be the best president.

There is no such thing as equality. In the United States, the law roughly treats all equally. Judges don't. Lawyers don't. Police don't. People don't.
The fact is that no one is truly equal with another. Ages, education, health, strength, physical dimensions are all unequal. That is between people let alone the much different genders. So no, there will never be true equality. There is something resembling equality, but not true equality between the genders. Besides that, my wife will always be put ahead of others. Other spouses will say the same for their relationships. Not equal.

I don't think we have achieved gender equality, but we have developed the intelligence to understand what equality is. Even with the understanding of equality, many people still continue to fashion their relationships similar to what has occurred in the past. We understand the cost of having someone in our home to take care of children, make meals, wash laundry, care for the home, shop for groceries and plan activities. If both parents are working, the excess baggage is either carried by both parties in a relationship or the less dominant of the two. This takes into consideration the reality of same sex and heterosexual partners. The reality is that the weaker of the sexes, and in the case of heterosexuals, the female gets stuck with the excess. They are slighted, and until all people are educated to this fact, the wheel will continue to turn in this direction. I would also argue that even though they carry the larger burden, that they also produce a good product in comparison to males when it comes to planning fruitful activities for their offspring. There is no such thing as gender equality. Its just a concept. and no we wont ever reach it.

It doesn't matter what gender or race, certain people will always rate certain things higher then others.

Its impossible and Utopian(also impossible) in nature to have everything be equal.

No equality in full in any category. All men are not created equal and especially when there is old money around.
