goth and emo is the same thing? why or why not?

No way. Goth is actually pretty hot. Emo is just...sad.

No, they're not really the same thing, although some people can be goth and emo at the same time.
People who consider themselves 'goth' often dress a little different, listen to different music, and have a different manner of speaking than those who say they're 'emo.' There are some common threads between both, though.

No, they aren't. Emos are just a more annoying form of gothics.
I think that most people know they aren't the same thing.
I'd much rather be a goth than an emo, though. Emo kids drive me nuts!

people think that they are the same but they are not. and i am not even sure how emo derived into a type of clothing style because it's used to describe a type of music. so i dont think emo should be used to describe clothing. goth and punk also get confused by a lot of people. but i just guess if its not something that you are into or understand that people just tend to group them all together.

No, I have been told the difference by my children who, thankfully, are neither goth nor emo. No offense to either just how I feel as a parent. emo-emotional

emo is evolved goth ok those kids just got it all wrong-back in the day things were different ok we dressed beautifully we listened to great music none of this screaming crap and we werent oily and dirty looking gross-goth girls wanted to look PERFECT makeup hair clothing music we were perfect creatures think siouxsie sioux .........

Absolutely not. They have always been two entirely different things and it was only recently that people started lumping them together. A lot of 'kids today' seem to think they are the same or very similar and I'm not sure why but that's their deal.

Goth is like dress black and screamo music....EMo is just cute with long hair and kinda screamish music....Emo people are lonely...and CUTTERS !!!! lol
