There is an evolutionary Psychological theory (which is far-fetched but interesting). It suggests that humans derive from apes which spent a lot of the time up to their knees in the oceans/seas. Our love of the beach might well be representative of this early evolutionary past.

Aside from its so nice and relaxing, the only other thing I could think of is that in our historical past it has been a major food source.
In truth humans (all animals really) don't have that hard a time finding food in any environment; but what they do have trouble finding is food that won't fight back or is too fast for us. Many a hunter has found a deer get away because he made a sound and the deer was too fast. Or the bear who was just a bit too strong for the bullet and made the hunter pay for it. And that is with our current technology; but in the far past all we had were bows and arrows and a knife.
But with fishing, it is much easier. Not so much luring the fish I know, you've got to know something. But once the fish is caught it can't break off the hook usually, and once out of the water it is pretty much helpless without oxygen nor any way of fighting back. So in the distant past humans learned to live near oceans and in fact learned to like the temperature and environment. Now we naturally like to go back to it.
Or that could simply be a nutjob idea and it is nothing more than nice and relaxing.

Other than the perceptual ability of the beach to mesmerize us into a lazy state, there are a multitude of other reasons as to why the beach is so wonderful. Until recently, patients with cystic fibrosis have suffered with several problems breathing and dealing with their lung disease. A doctor found by pure accident that some of his patients (who were surfers) were having less problems than others. When he found out they spent a great deal of the time at the ocean, prescribed a simple and extremely cheap nebulizer to improve lung efficiency. Another reason for the beach has to deal with the metabolizing of vitamins which can only occur in sunlight. An increase of sunlight promotes vitamin D which improves bone strength and controls innumerable processes in the human body including responses in muscles, bones and glands. The rhythm and sound of the beach has a very calming beat as it washes against the shore, lulling us into sleep and rejuvenating our systems from lost sleep and stress from the workplace. It is a time for nice and fun food, pretty sights and relaxing moods. What could be better for you than a day on the beach?

Well the deeper answer is only a long winded explanation of your precis of the situation and that is that it is so nice and relaxing.
But you want deep. Well consider why is it so nice and relaxing. At the beach we are at the edge of civilsiation and almost at one with nature. We are near the point where we first crawled out of the slugde and began to breath air and live on the worlds surface.
When we go back to the beach we are going back to our roots and in front of us is only sky and sea - no man made buildings or problems (if you discount the pollution in the air and sea).
But in essence it is as close as we can come to our origins and that is so nice and relaxing. Don't you think.
Just enjoy it and try not to look for the deeper meaning .. it can be such a bore.

I like to go because the only thing you see is the beach and the great big ocean. The crashing ocean takes over all other sound. It is a place to escape the rest of the world. I don't know about other people, but when I look at how large the ocean is, suddenly me and my problems don't seem so big.

Next to a relaxing environment, maybe it has to do with sexuality? The beach is the closest getting to see nearly naked people and the place where it's accepted the most. A place to show off and attract other people.

Away from the phone, TV noisy neighbours etc etc, great for the old mental health. Remove the stressors from your life whether it be to the beach or the movies or the spa and of course it would be "nice and relaxing". What else do you want?

i think people go to the beach for different reasons , if its a rocky beach and theres not the greatest weather maybe for some deep thinking , i always do my best thinking on a beach .sometimes it could be the opposite , to get your mind off something .some people go there because it centers them , the smell of the salt in the air and the sound of the waves crashin in . if its a sunny day maybe they want to bask in the sun , which gives you vitamin d and makes you feel overall good or maybe cuz of the social aspect.
just me ...........

Well, without think about it i can tell you that beaches tend to work all of our senses.
Noise
sight
touch
smell
The sound of waves, the constant motion of the waves, the smell of the sea water, the feel of sand in your toes. humans are also naturally attracted to low toned blue light and not to mention water itself.
Hope this helps answer your question.
