I'd choose the tortured genius. Eventually, the happy simpleton will come upon circumstances and problems that kill their joy, and they'll probably be too stupid to solve the problem. As a tortured genius, I might just be smart enough to solve my own problems.

Tortured genius. At least if it becomes too much you can always decide to become a simpleton ... it doesn't work the other way around. And if you have to ask why, guess which category you are in already!?

A happy simpleton, because the simpleton dose not know any different. The genius can figure there has to be some thing better.

Being a happy genius is fine with me. Of course, if I had to choose between those two I'd be a tortured genius because thought is the only thing that really matters.

From what I have seen of life so far, I would rather not know most of the things I know, so I would choose the happy simpleton. It's true what they " Ignorance is bliss". It is. That is why children are always so happy. They don't understand and could care less.

Hapy simpleton. As a simpleton i'd hardly know what i was missing and i'd be happy. Unless i solved some big problem as a tortured genius.....

A tortured genius, in spite of the fact that I am without a doubt a hedonist/satyr.

I generally prefer pleasure/indulgence as opposed to pain/intense effort. That being said, I am a literature scholar, teacher, accomplished musician and machinist.

But as a musician, I know that real creativity and beauty do not alway come easily.

a happy simpleton, because a tortured genius tortues himself, and that's not a very smart thing to do.

I'd rather be the simpleton. Like in the matrix, that guy that wanted a steak even though he knew it wasn't real.
