Again, I'll put out the very unpopular but correct answer that humans are no longer evolving. There is no natural selection acting on human populations since nearly all humans reach reproductive age.
No natural selection = no evolution.

I suggest you learn what omnipotence means. There is no way any human could ever be omnipotent. Greek gods were not omnipotent. The only things which can be described as omnipotent are the God of Judaism and Christianity, and the god of Muslims which is Allah. The two are separate and distinct from each other. I know of no other thing even resembling omnipotence. Q on the television show Star Trek: The Next Generation was not omnipotent though seemed closer to it than Greek gods.

I agree with what Jack said. Intelligence does not equal omnipotence. From a philosophical point of view only an all powerful God can be omnipotent. Human have the ability of creation, using tools to aid our own abilities, but that is not the same as omnipotence.
Some people may predict in the future people will get smarter and their brains will get bigger. Of course, bigger brain doesn't always equal more intelligence, but if you're interested, studies in past and current brain size shows that human brains are very unlikely to get very much bigger due to 2 restrictions:
1. The brain is very metabolically expensive to maintain. The brain shuts down after more that a minute of so of oxygen deprivation. The brain uses about 23% (don't quote me of this) of the body's energy needs. Having a bigger brain will mean compromise on other areas of our bodies, which will limit our abilities to do other things anyway.
2. The baby's head comes out of the birth canal. Because the human hip can only be so big, if the baby's head gets too big it simply can't..er..come out. This will prevent any large brained beings from being birthed. Even if a Cesarean is done there are other difficulties.

it's truly up to the environment. if it becomes so demanding that omnipotence is the only way to survive then yes, it is possible but this will take millions and millions of years, probably just as long as it took humans to get where they are now (branching off and such). however, if this is the only way to survive and other animals are capable of surviving then at that stage as well then, what would be considered omnipotent and for that matter human? omnipotence in a sense is favored by evolution, not in the sense of god-like but in the sense of the fastest and strongest are going to prevail or pass their genes down. this then could give rise to another species, will years and years of evolution, that has survived such demands which constitute for seemingly omnipotent to us now, but at that stage how will it be considered omnipotent if everything around has gone through the same conditions and survived? it's possible but possibility does not mean actuality. Also, if we were to evolve in such a manner, there would most likely be a break off and humans in general would be offered and again a "human" in the sense we know today wouldn't exist but a great variant of it that, i would presume would be very different. and with the state.
also, other point that is coming up is that technology is being considered the new evolutionary tool. so cybernetics or cybernetic humans essentially would be the next human evolutionary step called post-humans. this is a radical idea because that gives way for hyper evolution at a phenomenal rate, however this type of evolution follows more of the Lamarckian idea of self-inflicted change (like tattooing).

Are you seriously thinking that humans who after thousands of years are still slaughtering each other, killing innocent people for political statement, acting out cowardly acts of corporate corruption, lying to everyone even at the highest government office of the land, will reach a level of omnipotence? Humans are the scourge of the universe and are polluting the only environment that is capable of supporting human life. My answer is NO!
