Adsense does not require you to enter into any agreement with anyone other than google.

So, if I read your question correctly, you do not have to offer affiliate advertising nor be a part of an affiliate program.

Just set up your adsense account, insert the adsense code as directed, and your good to go.

It is ideal NOT to put all your eggs in one basket, so it is best to diversify your sources of revenue. You'd want to have as many possible sources of income.

If something happens with Adsense -- e.g. the program closes or you are kicked out of the program for whatever reason -- at least you have a fall back position to rely on.

So while not required by Adsense, it is always the best course of action to have a diversified source of income. Some sites even say that they do better with their affiliate programs than with Adsense; so if you can join an affiliate program that fits well with your site's theme and certainly is attractive to your visitors, join these affiliate programs

you just need to sign up with google adsense and add the code to your site. Google will supply the ads based on the content of your site.

You can still go for specific affiliates if you want another source of revenue but I don't think you are allowed to use any other service that does contextual advertising similar to adense
