In actuality all Masters in Business Administration (MBA) are suitable for mechanical engieers. In a nutshell, an MBA is a body of knowledge for managers which covers all major functions of business (i.e. Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Strategy, etc.). Most top MBA programs have a very similar curriculum for the first year which encompasses this general body of knowledge. I think the confusion of "MBA type" comes from what elective classes an MBA candidate takes in his/her second year. Some students tend to specialize their course of study (particularly finance and marketing) which gives them great depth in one or two areas. However, others take a more general approach and get a wider selection of classes to expand their breadth.
Here is the bottom line: You need to ask yourself what are you trying to achieve in your career? (i.e. "career switch", "break through to engineering management", etc.) An MBA is a means to an end. It is a stepping stone that helps a person achieve a career goal. An MBA is a long-term investment. They are expensive, take up all your time for 2 years, and are very competitive/stressful. If you don't have a destination that you are trying to manage towards, then an MBA will not help you get there.
If you already know what you want to do, then my advice is to go to a top tier MBA institution (top 30 in the US and/or top 10 worldwide). These schools will get you the best jobs post-MBA (which means more prestige and more money). Within these schools, look for the programs that best fit your goals (i.e. US News and world report also sub rank the top schools by categories like finance, quantitiative anlysis, international business, etc.).
Hope this helps you guys...
