I've tried at home waxes, but I never had any luck with it. I prefer a salon treatment... Faster, almost painless, and they'll give you something to sooth the skin.

If you must do it at home, you should exfoliate really well the night before. Give your skin at least a day to recover before waxing. But it really makes the whole process easier.

The lady a few comments above me is right about the coochie product it works amazingly I have been using it for years! Other than that when you actually do the wax, if it is done properly you shouldn't have the same bumps that you get from shaving. The key is to pull the skin super tight, reallly really tight as you pull so the hair comes straight out you don't irritate the folicle.
I wax in the summers and I love it, but save money in the winter by shaving lol.

Put dove power fresh deodorant on down there, a girl I know who used to be a stripper did it. Also you can wash before and after with coochie cream you can get it on ceaplubes.com. Its about $20 for a bottle but it will last you months and months. I use it when I shave and never have bumps or itchiness. Good luck. Make sure your hair is no longer than 1/2 an inch when you wax or you'll want to die!!!

Once the waxing is over, the waxer should spread soothing lotion over the waxed areas. You should ask what to do in case redness or bumps develop

Take a couple painkillers beforehand (anything but asprin). Breathe deeply after each strip is removed. Bring along bikini zone. Put it on the area right after. You can purchase this product called Bliss ingrown hair remover. Its expensive but it works wonders.
