I’ve always read both, but I’ve always liked DC a little bit more. Want to know why? The reason may surprise you. When Marvel introduced characters like Spider Man who was full of angst and the Fantastic Four who didn’t get along as good like a superhero team should, I said, “Don’t we have enough realism in real life? Why do we want to read about heroes with PROBLEMS…?”

Actually, DC and Marvel are publishers of comic books.
With that little correction out of the way, I prefer DC to Marvel simply because I have been a fan of Superman for almost 38 years now, and I have never stopped reading any title he appears in.
On the other hand, I stopped buying and looking at Marvel comic books about 10 or so years ago.
I said "looking" because one does not Read a Marvel book, one looks at the pictures and hopes for a story. While a DC book can have no pictures and a good story can still be found within.

DC is by far the best they consistently put out a quality product and really seem to care story content. Marvel on the other hand seem to be all about the buck. If they could get away with it they would have 10 wolverine comics out at once( case in point his appearance in the new avengers, wolverine, wolverine origins, and numerous x-books at the same time). Marvel bleeds a money maker till there are no fresh ideas left( now we have to deal with X23 the wolverine clone). Look at all the different spider-man, x-men, and fantastic four titles running simultaneously.

DC. I lost interest in Marvel years ago when they started revamping characters (seemed like every 6 months) and worrying more about their (corporate) bottom line than the quality of their characters and story telling. The only thing I buy from Marvel is Civil War (its OK) and Astonishing X-Men, because Whedon is writing it now.

Both have their good story lines *DC has Batman and Superman after all*, but being an old school X-Man fan, I like Marvel better.

I like the characters in Marvel better myself and the storylines.
For artwork I would have to say DC though.
Its a tough one but I will go with Marvel.

I believe that you have to see it in different angles such as dc has better logos while marvel has better team such as x-men, fantastic four, avengers. Also dc had many people in the JL (justice league) plus the teen titans, while marvel had limited people in all groups. then again your own opinion

In all of publishing, this has to be one of the silliest questions.
There is no right answer.
DC and Marvel are both publishing houses that make comics, having one logo or the other does not make the books better. It is the creative people, like writers and artists, that make a great comic.
You would never see someone having an arguement in your local bookstore over if Ballintine, Penguin, or Del Ray was a better publisher. Real fans of literature base quality on STORIES they like not who paid to print the stories.
Imagine having this same conversation over movie studios, museaums, art galleries, video game publishers, or television stations. You will see in examination how closed minded it is to try to pick a distributor of media over the actual quality of media itself.
Maybe if you love the artistry of comics, you should also look to other publishers outside of the fanboy mainstream as well.

I tend to prefer Marvel over DC due to Marvel's character's and storylines tend to be a little more reality based than DC, which I find is more fantasy based.
