GCSE choices won't make a big difference - do something you're good at and enjoy so you get good grades. A-level choices will be more important and you need to consider the entry requirements for the courses you're looking at when you get to that point. Whatever you do, try not to close doors for yourself. I've been teaching a while and still occasionally find use for the German I did, which certainly wasn't my best subject by far. Especially important for primary teachers - keep a breadth of subjects, you will be expected to teach a little of everything if the system stays the same as all the schools I've ever been in.

It will not matter so much at this stage what subjects you take, as A-levels are more important. For primary school teaching you will need GCSEs in English, Maths and Science at A-C level so as long as you make sure you work hard to get those you will be fine.

Personally I would take the subjects that you are interested in and can perform well in so that you can progress on to do your A-Levels and go to University.

The subjects that I took at GSCE didn't really matter to me apart from the subject that I now am going to teach but you are going to be a primary school teacher and not a specific subject teacher in a secondary school

Good luck

It depends what 'specialism' you wish to follow in primary education. Have a look at:

So for example, if you want to specialise in geography, it is recommended that you take geography at A-level, which may require you to take geography for GCSE. To be honest, the most important subjects are your compulsory ones; English, Maths and Science as you will need these at grade C or above (grade B in some universities) to get into university; this is compulsory.

At primary school level teachers are required to have a broad range of subjects - I assume at this stage you don't have a speciality subject in mind?

I would take a language, possible an art (music, technology or art) and either geography or history. Defo take maths, science and english - they are vital.

you can get into teaching as long as you have English, Maths and a science so go for Double Science (if you do that where you are, im in wales, different board to England!) and then whatever you enjoy. Im off to uni in september to do education and have english, welsh, science, maths, art, geog an french at GCSE and english, french and welsh at Alevel so its possible!

What ever you LIKE and what ever you are GOOD at !
Of course supported by basic subjects .

So you will have a career that pays you both ways, with money and with fulfilment.

You work for a looooong time before you are allowed to retire.

Good luck!
