They actually GAVE draft picks to the Jets to get Herm Edwards to coach their team! HAHAHAHA. What a joke of a franchise! The jets should have given the chiefs picks just to get rid of him! LOL!

actually Herm Edwards has been a head coach for more than one year and his teams still do the same old thing. Also, Gunther Cunningham is the DEFENSIVE coordinator so he has nothing to do with calling offensive plays. Even if he was its up to the head coach to tell the coordinators to change it up if its not working. He is the boss and everything filters under him.

Everyone who has answered this question so far is a dumb -azz football fan and has their facts messed up. One person said the Chiefs have not made the playoffs since 1995...Ah no. They made it at least one time under Dick Vermeil who coached the team from about 2001-2005. I clearly remember them playing the Colts a few years back. Also Gunther is the D. Coord. and did a great job shutting down Manning. Also, Herm did not do a great job getting the Chiefs to the playoffs. They backed in! They needed 2-3 teams to lose just to get in.

To correct Haven: Gunther Cunningham is the DEFENSIVE coordinator and has no say in offensive play calls. He was responsible for calling the plays that allowed the Chiefs D to intercept Manning 3 times and keep them to 3 field goals in the first half.
Second - the Chiefs have not made the playoffs since 1995. I would say Herm did a great job in getting them in to the postseason. Let's see how he builds on that next season. Last I checked, the Jets didn't fare too well themselves in the postseason this year. In fact, they lost by a larger margin to the Patriots than the Chiefs did to the Colts. Sounds to me like someone either jsut really hates the Chiefs or is a sore Jets fan that can't admit that it worked out well for both teams.

The reason why Herm Edwards was selected as the coach was because he was a perfect fit for Chiefs style of football. That style is run, run, and run some more. Running Larry Johnson a NFL record 416 times in one year proves it.
That same style was more than evident in Saturday's game when not one Chief's wr caught a ball in the entire game.
The Chiefs need a new look offense period. That means getting a new offensive coordinator, letting 36 year old Trent Green go or possible trade, drafting young talented wr in this years draft, and running Larry Johnson a lot less next year.
They simply need a fresh new look on offense from head to toe.

Who would you have gone after then to fill the vacancy left by Vermeil? Mike Martz? He'd never get the production out of LJ that Edwards did this year. Tuna? You'd have to have given up even more to get him to KC. Think about who else was in the coaching market at the time - are there any other first-year coaches this year in the playoffs? And dont say Sean Payton, because no one knew coming in how effective he'd be in the Big Easy.

Herm isnt the problem. He did get them into the playoffs. Gunther Cunningham is the major problem. He's the offensive coach and once he found out he couldnt run Larry he didnt change anything for the entire first half. If something doesnt work yo go to something that will. Now that was stupid.

Actually Herm Edwards is a very well respected coach in the league. He is known as "the preacher", he builds character and team play, he fits right in with Kansas City, and did a damn good job when they lost Trent Green. Too bad he decided to put him back in.

Who cares, both teams are now watching the play-offs so it does not matter.
