i am looking for a 3.06ghz pentium 4 533mhz fsb 512 kb l2 cache socket 478 without h/t i have looked for ages and can only find 3.06ghz with h/t. the reason i ask is becouse i have this cpu with h/t in my pc,but my pc only runs at 1.6ghz ! i feel that maybe my pc is actually slower with h/t becouse not many programs recognise h/t and i feel my pc just chuggs allong at 1.6ghz. maybe i should just get a 2.8ghz p4 without h/t as i am sure you can get them please help. thanx

The problem is not with the hyperthreading, something else is going wrong. I think I could perhaps help you diagnose the problem correctly, but I would need some more information. Email me if you are interested, its in my profile.

HT is just a technology of Intel to memic a 2nd cpu (along with a few other things). If a program doesn't reconize it, it will not use it. It doesn't really slow anything down, at best it will use 100% of the cpu if it can be used.
And as an discontinued 478 socket, you don't have much choice except what is left to sell.

It may be that the ht is disabled. It would also be slower if you don't have two sticks of identical ram one in each channel.
