The main differance is that the American Federal government is broken into three Branches, a legislative, Judicial, and Executive branch. The British Parlmentary system is composed of only a Legislative Branch with it taking on the role of an executive and Judicial Branch.

The Parliament refers to a two-branched legislative system in the U.K. There is the House of Lords and the House of Commons. They are roughly similar to the two houses of Congress in the U.S., the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Federal Government refers to the entire government of the U.S.
A major difference is that the Prime Minister of Britain changes with the legislative part majority and elections are held when a particular party has enough votes to bring about a change of government. The minority question is still somewhat debatable.

these two governments govern different geographical territories. the uk is a bunch of islands in the north atlantic, at the west of the european continental shelf. its governmental constitution includes a presiding monarch and two debating houses of legislators.
the usa is a large federation of territories in north america, south of canada, north of mexico. it includes a few island territories. its presiding figure is called a president, and there are two other debating legislative branches.
in these two, as in every other government oriented to the military/industrial economic complex, the people who work their way into jobs in or around these governments dream that they are doing good, and the main thrust of their creativity is diverted to persuade the rest of the population that the major part of that population is represented democratically by these often pseudo-legal/philosopher-manque /amateur economist governors.

the major difference between the cultures is that the usa is not a nation of natives, but an ongoing fantastical project of colonization. the uk defers to the different mindset of being the theater of an ancient crown-myth.
