Can I just be nice and keep in shape so people will like me and not poke fun or anything at me? Is it ok that I don't wear so fancy clothes cuz it's easier for my budgets.

There are no requirements for being gay. It's not a lifestyle, it's a sexual orientation. There is no law that says all gay men must wear nice clothes. Don't let stereotypes influence your thoughts. I hate to break it to you, but people are always going to hate, no matter how you act, look, or dress. Even if you are a wonderful person, it will make no difference, because they are just mean. Some are ignorant and do not understand that homosexualilty is normal and that there is nothing wrong with it. Just be yourself and ignore bigots.

Not all gay men are shallow.
Stay in shape for your own satisfaction, and wear whatever clothes you can afford. There are a lot of guys out there who don't have huge budgets. Just be well-groomed and dress as nicely as you can.

Be how you feel; if you like designer labels get them; if you prefer not to than dont. Dress what makes you feel good. If you can feel good and happy with yourself by dressing nice, keeping in shape, and being nice yourself, then by all means do so. A gay guy isn't necessarily dressed any such way; some of us just cant feel true to ourselves unless we wear it, like me ;).

Just ignore them, people seem to find things to be cruel about, whether it be weight, sexual orientation, clothing, the car you drive etc. Be who you are, you shouldn't try and change yourself to make other people happy or to try and get them to like you. As for the clothes, buy what you want, that's just whats on the outside, its whats on the inside that really matters.

There is no one right way to be gay, just as there is no one right way to be human. First and foremost, do no harm. Secondly, be true to yourself first for until you are you can not be honest with someone else.
