Personally, I liked the old "just for fun" system. I was involved in the Liberty Bowl for many years under both systems and it was much more exciting to have most bowls up for grabs.

Old bowls, because if they want to make it a competition for a championship, they need to do it right and devise some sort of system wherein the teams could play each other directly, in a series of matches, to determine who the superior team definitively is.

The old way. This season's bowl games were, for the most part, not very good match ups. It sort of makes it seem as if there is only one important game and all the others don't count for much.
