...why does it taste different? Slightly like cinnamon, perhaps?
I've seen posts like this but nobody ever has a real answer. I know that: A) It's not just the difference between pre-mix and fountain. B) It's not that McD's uses more water. C) It has nothing to do with the type or quality of the water itself.
I tell you, the coke formula just plain tastes different at McDonalds ONLY. And any McD's I go to, accross the country, tastes the same. And we know that there's no way you would get that kind of consistency unless it was the syrup. So, it HAS to be a different formula or something. Right? Anybody?

It is because they can gauge the amount of water, syrup, and carbon that goes into your drink. Not all stores coca cola tastes the same. They do have a meter for reading it, but they are cheap on the syrup since it is the most expensive. Our stores cola was too much carbonate and water.

I believe They buy a cheaper low quality syrup that has more artificial sweetener then the one out of the can. When the syrup becomes carbonated through the fountain its sweetness is enhanced by this process. A lot fast food joints do this not just Mickey D's

I have heard the same thing that fountain drinks at McDonald's taste different. But they all say that the fountain drinks at McDonald's taste better than anywhere else. Maybe it is sweeter at McDonald's.

McD's and coke denies this but I think it has more sugar to give you a bit of a sugar high while you eat that awful food. To mask the fact that is so awful.

Perhaps they add in the generic brand of Coca Cola-type soda to cut costs?

it HAS to be a different formula or something. Right?
It is mainly the way that it is stored. Also, McDonald's does not buy it like regular fountain drinks, it is bought in bulk amounts of 75 gallons or more.
This would be my main guess. :-}

I agree, it does taste different. My guess is that maybe since they get it out of the fountain, it has a different taste.
