Advised to wait till 12 weeks at least till all jabs have been had since some disease (is it diptheria?) is carried through water.
After that, all that is needed is an adult to hold on to baby and perhaps swim nappies in case of any accidents!

If baby can hold head up and sit in a supported position then you can get floating seats which are great but too long in it and baby might get cold so lots of help with moving legs etc to keep circulation going.

If baby is quite mobile then armbands and then you can encourage more independant movement in the water.

I had my 1st child under the water at 14 weeks - if baby is happy in the water then blow on his face so he takes a gasp then when he's used to that and you're feeling brave then duck him under and pull forward a wee bit while he's gasped and holding his breath. Make sure he's facing you when he comes up and sees a happy smiling mum so he knows everything is fine! My son is a great confident swimmer now having done things like that, unlike the other two who just hated it - so it doesn't always work!

Get in touch with the pool to see what they have - a lot of pools have free reign on equipment, others don't so it's worth while finding out.

Have fun!

Make sure that they have all vaccinations that they require for the first three months. They also need swim nappies (little swimmers) and a responsible adult that will keep their attention on the baby for all the time they are in the water.

Swim nappy, baby, towel and that's it.
You could wait till after their injections to be safe, and it is obviously best with 1 adult per child - in fact some baths may insist on it, so if you have 3 kids under 16, you need to take your partner and a friend (daft I know, but ring first cos' not all are like this)

Huh? Nothing is required if it's your pool or a beach. If it's a private pool or waterpark....each park has different rules. Some require swim diapers, some don't! Some require life jackets or a floaty and some don't. You would need to contact the place where you plan to swim.

We take our 15 month old to a lot of different places....all different rules!

Swim diapers, in public pools. That is about it, along with the baby, water and responsible adult already suggested by previous answers.

Make sure baby has had their jabs, then get baby, you, a swim nappy and a towel to the local pool and go for it!

There is nothing you really need - no age restrictions etc. Just a little cute costume, and some of them swimming nappies would be helpful.

Have fun!
