Out of every 10 women who are pregnant, one or two have symptoms of major depression. I think this number should be higher though. My pregnancy was planned and I was extremely happy to be pregnant, but severely depressed at the same time. I cried all the time and then cried because I couldn't stop crying! It has pretty much subsided, but sometimes I still get depressed and cry for no reason. I found out it is very common in pregnancy. Here is an article to read about depression & pregnancy. Good Luck. http://www.marchofdimes.com/pnhec/188_15663.asp

oh yes!!!! that happened to me with my second pregnancy, but im sure alot of that had to do with the fact that it was an unplanned pregnancy and my first daughter was only 5 months old when i got pregnant again so i had 50 million thoughts running through my head. i thought i was depriving my oldest of attention that should have been given to her and this that and the other have you had a serious life change recently? family problems? youre body is already going through enough changes preparing for a baby, and your hormones are completely out of whack that any slight change in diet, sleep atmosphere etc. could send you into a spiral. if you have to, keep a journal and write down all that happens in a day this way not only can you get some things off your chest which will help with anger and depression, but you can also tell your doctor accurate things that have been causing you depression, and he/she may be able to put you on a low dosage of medicine. you may experience post pardom depression, alot of women suffer from it. don't let your depression go untreated or un-noticed, it can get worse and you want this to be a happy time not a sad! good luck

I also live in a very expensive area, the entire state is over priced! The only thing I can suggest is trying to sell your condo and moving to a suburb. I know it's not what most people WANT to do, but it definitely will ease the stress of paying such a high mortgage. Trust me, I understand. My mortgage is also a huge chunk of my yearly salary! A suggestion... cut back everything that you possibly can. And maybe you have already, I don't know. Suggestions... No eating out. Basic Cable service Basic internet service Give up home phone and go with cell phones only Really, though, my only suggestion is to move. I know in my state (Massachusetts), if you live in Boston it's unbelievably expensive! If you move 15-20 miles west, north or south you pay FAR less for the same thing. Move 30-40 miles west and you can get double for your money. Just a thought... My builder built several homes in the area. The exact same house just 3 miles away in the next town over sold for 20% more than my house cost me. And that was during the huge housing boom 4 years ago.

Yes it can.
If it gets TOO bad, then talk to your doctor.
Some woman say no, but it can start from the first day. Your hormones are completely different from before, and if can cause alot of mental differences.
If you have it during pregnancy, make sure to have someone with you alot after the baby is born. Often, woman who hurt their babies accidently due to depression developed it during the pregnancy and weren't helped or monitored after the birth.
=) But you are aware of the fact that you don't feel normal and that is a good thing. So don't worry and just let yourself cry when you need and yell when you need.

Pregnancy induced depression is very common. A lot of women are even put on anitdepressants during pregnancy because it's so bad for them. It's normal! The hormones are creating havoc in your brain! If it is too much for you to handle or if you ever have thoughts of hurting yourself or someone else (including baby), you should talk to your doctor and see what can help you. Also, maybe try a pregnancy support group or just a close friend you can met to have lunch with (maybe order in so you can feel free to yell or cry) and let it all out. It will help, I promise! Good Luck!!

Yes, pregnancy can bring on depression because of all the hormonal changes. Talk to your OB about what to do. He or she may be able to prescribe some antidepressants that are pregnancy-safe. He or she may also have some other suggestions to help you move through your pregnancy without feeling depressed.
Your body will be going through a lot during your pregnancy, and if you can take a medicine to avoid the depression, it will help you out a lot. You may also want to look into seeing a therapist to help you talk through your feelings. Good luck.

It could easily fall within the bounds of normal, but it's important to tell your doctor. At this point in your pregnancy, a great deal of the literature is going to be focused on the health of the baby: "Eat plenty of folic acid -- it's good for the baby. Get lots of rest -- it's good for the baby." What can get lost is you. To a certain extent, you are the best person to determine how far from normal you feel, but if depression progresses, you can lose the ability to make that distinction. It's very important that your doctor be monitoring this at regular intervals. Best wishes to you.

Oh gosh yes! You could try eating more fresh things like vegtabls and more fruit, and drinking lots of water, plus doing a bit of exercise, this usually helps with the mood swings and depression. But if it's really exteme, you should tell it to your ob/gyn and he/she'll help you out :-) It's totally normal!

OMGOODNESS! YES!!! I ALWAYS THOUGHT MY SISTER WAS DELUSIONAL WHEN SHE GOT ALL EMOTIONAL AND DEPRESSED WHEN SHE WAS PREGGO, BUT NOW THAT I AM EXPERIENCEING IS 1ST HAND... ITS CRAZY. THERE ARE DAYS WHEN I FEEL LIKE I HATE MY LIFE, NOT HAPPY AT ALL, BUT THAT FEELING CAN CHANGE AT THE DROP OF A DIME. ITS SO WEIRD HOW YOUR HORMONES MAKE YOU FEEL. I ALSO GET SAD AND CRY AT THE STUPIDEST THINGS ~EX: YESTERDAY, I WENT TO GET A PICKLE OUT OF THE JAR AND WHEN I PICKED THE JAR UP OUT OF THE FRIDGE IT SLIPPED AND FELL AND SHATTERED, AND WE HD TO THROW THEM ALL AWAY!~ I STARTED CRYING. CRAZY, BUT FUNNY.
