If all you want is a certificate, do the CELTA. The name CELTA is widely recognized in Europe, and the certificate that you get upon completion clearly states TESOL so you can use it in Asian markets as well. It's a basic four-week, full-time program with six hours of supervised teaching practice. Use the link below to find a center near you.

By the way, the only way to get a decent job in TEFL is to also have a Bachelor's degree. A degree is needed to get a work visa in almost every country.

You should have a counselor to help you with this. I graduated from the Division of English as an International Language from the University of Illinois, which is widely regarded, but not the best. 15 - 20 years ago UCLA and the University of Michigan had better programs. I really don't know for sure now, but I recall something about finding college ratings back then. See a dean or a counselor.

The school that I attended (University of Akron) had a great program. Many universities do. As far as one that is recognized internationally, I think that you may have to inquire a bit. Sometimes you just need to take 1 or 2 extra courses that can make your degree for international recognition. Speak with an advisor. Each country may differ though in their requirements.
