You need to ask your Mom or Dad or another trusted adult -in real life. This is not the place to ask these kinds of questions.
You may get silly people who give you wrong answers just for kicks.
Ask someone you know and trust.

To put it in simple terms, when a womans body releases an egg from one of her ovaries, it moves down the fallopian tubes to either be fertilized or flushed from the body.
If the egg is fertilized by sperm, it implants itself on the wall of the uterus and forms into an embryo. At that time, the hormones from the implanted egg send signals to the brain that pregnancy has begun.
If there's no fertilized egg, then there's no indicator that pregnancy has begun. The unfertilized egg doesn't implant itself and the inner walls of the uterus will swell then slough off in the form of light tissues and blood. This is the point of menstruation...more commonly called a period.

Ovulation releases an egg. If that egg goes unfertalized then you have a period to flush it out.
