Bloodstone is a cut and polished cabochon that has a base color of dark green with red spots that resemble blood, thus the name bloodstone. It is also called heliotrope. Because of it softness, it is rated a 6.5 on the Mohs scale where 10 is highest, it is usually used for a pendant or necklace. Your rust colored stone could be a jasper or carnelian. Yes, but bloodstone is just a color of Jasper.

It could be many things.. Agate, Tigers Eyes....
