Using a distillation apparatus with a Leibig condenser., and thermometer in the neck of the distillation vessel.
Pure water (H2O) boils at 100 degrees Centigrade. Ethanol (Ethyl Alcohol - the stuff that you can drink - beer, wine etc.,) boils at 78.5 degrees centigrade.
If the mixture is heated to say 80 degrees Centigrade, then the ethanol will boil off, leaving the water in the distillation vessel. The ethanol vapour is passed through the Leibig condenser where it cools to below its boiling point and becomes a liquid again, and is collected in a separate.flask..
Hence the two liquids are separated.

You distill it in a still. The alchohol evaporates at a lower temperature than the water thefrore evaporates first so that is the bit that goes into the condenser to make the alchohol.
However, many poisons do the same thing so if you dont know what you are doing you could poison someone.
An alternative is to put it in a freezer and remove the ice as water will freeze first.
It is illegal to operate a still but not sure if same applies to freezing. Also not sure if freezing produces the same poisons.

First, set up a simple distillation apparatus. Then heat the mixture to approximately 80 °C. Keeping the temperature at a constant 80°C, distil until boiling stops. Then raise the temperature to 85°C and heat at constant temperature a bit longer. Then the distillate (re-condensed solution) is your alcohol and what is left in the original container is your water. This process can be used, because alcohol boils at approximately 78.4 °C, and water boils at approximately 100°C.

Did this in 6th form in school,using wine(Shhh!). Heat the mixture up using a flask and a Liebig condenser.Keep the temperature at around 70-80C.The alcohol will turn to vapour and re-condense into liquid alcohol.The water won't boil until 100C. Don't drink the alcohol it might contain methanol (poisonous) as well as the ethanol you wanted.Test for the alcohol by putting a match to a small amount on a saucer...it lights up easily.

If you take the mixture and distill it, you'll get alcohol that's about 95% pure, with the remaining 5% being water. The only way to get the rest of the water out is to dehydrate it with something that will react with the water and leave the alcohol.

The easiest method is with a distillery: heat the water and capture the alcohol as it evaporates first, running it thru the cooling tubes to distill it at the other end, leaving the water under boiling temperature.

Heat the solution... alcohol boils at a lower temp than water. Using a thermometer, watch the temp as it boils... after a while,when it starts to rise toward and hits 100ºC, the alcohol has been boiled off leaving water.

The liquid that u get after distillation is alcohol and whatever is left is water
