I like the 350.
Plenty of aftermarket parts available and they are the least expensive to build. Plus, for the dollar, it's hard to beat a well built, high reving small block.

Depending on what you want gas milage or horse power.Do the 350 because i want te 454 .If yu want a good race motor use the 400 block and use the crank from the 350 and d-stroke it .Bad fast motor.

I consider the above. aspects for a four hundred small block are a lot more effective than a 350. A chum of mine rebuilt a four hundred sbc and put in fairly a lot 4 cases the quantity in value as a 350 sbc might want to have value. a huge block, even a 396, would have more effective low end torque then the four hundred will. you are able to mildly construct a bbc for more effective or less an identical because the four hundred sbc yet you'll see more effective low end ability. There are stroker kits for the four hundred, yet because of value, i might want to pick a huge block. Why spend enormous money to max out the small block once you may have a mushy enormous block that would have more effective ability.

The 350 would be the cheapest and easiest. The others are good, but not nearly as covered in the aftermarket as the 350 is. There are parts for it everywhere.

The 350.
I have rebuilt one of these and it was rather quite simple to get all the parts that I needed. Also, it is one of Chevy's best engines.
