Why would that ruin it?

Capt Jack has always been bi-sexual.It's part of the character.Had you watched the 1st series of Doctor Who you would have seen him kiss both Rose & the Doctor in the last episode "Parting of the ways".
That gay kiss was just part of the storylineWilliam Russell doesn't need to resort to such tactics to get the viewers in.Torchwood has been the most-watched series on BBC3 beating all records. It's been so popular that when it comes back in the autumn, it's going straight onto BBC2.
You can't ruin a series by a risque storyline.Torchwood has always been tagged as an adult sci-fi drama.

Torchwood was ruined long before the last episode....I tried to like it and watched all the episodes, I kept coming back hoping for some ray of light but badly written scripts by people that were given the green light after the watershed to use tons of bad language and scenes that seemed more of a shock value than an added area of the show, bad editing and poor acting on some of the cast made the show suffer. Scripts seemed rushed and ill advised, for instance in the time travel episode with the airplane that came from 1953 the pilot refered to the disaperance of Amelia Earhart in 1932 when in fact she vanished in 1937, you think a program that deals with time travel would get its facts straight. Will they make another series?...I hope they whitewash this poor X-Files imitation first.

The fact he is gay makes no difference whatsoever.
Don't let your homophobic tendencies ruin a good series.
If you are 'outraged' or 'disgusted' by his sexuality then the producers have made a good twist in the programmes because if it wasn't that way you wouldn't be talking about it now, would you?
:~)

What you should have been concentrating on was the fact that the TARDIS arrived at the end and spirited him away!
Did you see the little smirk when Jack heard it arriving?
HE KNOWS THE DOCTOR!

Can't wait for the next series!

By the way , the actor that plays Jack married his male partner of 16 years not long ago.

Nothing could have ruined Torchwood for me, it was Sooooo good. Being Bi just added another dimention to Jack. It didnt matter at all. The best thing on tv, does anyone know if there is a 2nd series being made?

I haven't seen Torchwood (sucks being in the US) yet, but when Jack debuted in DW's first season, they established that he was bi-sexual. Judging by some other questions I've seen here, there was a gay kiss in the last ep or something. Considering they set up his sexuality already in DW, that wouldn't be a surprise to me.

Jack was always openly gay (think they described him as omnisexual - would go with anything that looked good enough).

He talked about the gymnasts he had gone out with (twin brothers) and Ianto once suggested they send the others home, and in the series of doctor who his relationship was equally with the doctor as well as Rose.

They just pushed it a bit further in the end than suggesting.

They didn't just suddenly decide to make Jack gay in the last episode. If you've seen the few episodes of Dr Who that he was in he makes it clear to Rose and the Doctor that he's bisexual and wouldn't mind which one of them he ends up with.

There is a strong theme of bi-sexualtiy running through the show anyway...

Gwen making out with that posseswed girl.
Tosh having that relationship with that girl.
Jack and Jack.
Jack and Ianto are hinted at through the show as well...

It's supposed to be boundry breaking...

I saw John Barrowman on the Jonathan Ross show. He said that his character Jack, is omnisexual, which he described himself as "anything with a hole".

If you notice at the end of the 1st series of Doctor Who he kiss the doctor as well as rose.

i don't think they really made him gay in the last episode, they hinted at it numerous times throughout. But i don't think it spoiled it at all, why should it? i found the whole Gwen kissing him and he comes back to life thing a bit strange though. what was all that about?
