I don't think he likes the feel of them in his mouth. I set one on his tounge and he spit it out and made a funny face. My son refuses to eat them. He is only 8 months old, so it's not necessary that he eats them, but I'm afraid if he doesn't like the texture of them now, then he will not like regular food either when it comes time for that. I've always heard that kids love Cheerios, but he will not put them in his mouth.

My daughter wouldn't eat them at first either. She was pretty fussy about trying foods with new textures. She didn't eat Cheerios until she was 12 or 13 months. I even tried those Gerber puffs, but she didn't like them either. You could try putting them in his breastmilk or formula and mush them up a bit to get him use to the taste first, then little by little you could give them to him thicker and dryer until he starts to eat them plain. I found with my daughter I just had to ease into new textures and she eventually eats it. It just takes time and patience. Good luck.

MY nine month old does pretty good with finger foods. I give her the gerber biter biscuits, gerber apple wagon wheels, gerber graduate banana puffs(melts right in her month and kinda tasty lol), and the chopped up gerber graduate fruits. I put them on her tray and she just goes to town. Also before I started giving her the finger foods she was eating stage 3 gerber foods and eating off of my plate also so I guess she was kinda use to the bigger lumpier stuff.

Cheerios often don't have flavor and aren't that tastey. Things like puffs and popcorn and stuff like that, they probably just feel weird and dry their mouthes out. Try frosted Cheerios or honey-nut flavored. They even have fruity flavored ones in different colors as well.

It sounds like he's not ready for them. Usually they start to like them at about 10 months. Mine wouldn't eat them until he was 12 months. Forget about them for now and reintroduce them in a month or two.

Try wetting them with a little breastmilk or formula before offering them to him.

Also, try giving him plain, unsalted rice cakes.
