Love - it's very rare and hard to find.
Money - not too much, not too little, just enough to be comfortable. Besides, we can't live without it no matter how much we wish we could.
Family - I used to think they were a bunch of idiots and an embarrassment. But the older I get, the more I realize how wise they really are.

I try to live by three tenets I have put into proverbs:

1) Seek mastery over eminence. Those who seek only eminence will go to their graves still seeking, never having achieved mastery.

2) Best reason in the world to do something: Out of the goodness of your heart (often cynically dismissed by others as an ulterior motive)
Worst reason in the world to do something: Because you can

3) The good you do is an asset no one can take away from you. You can go bankrupt, have your property stolen, lose your health, lose your friends. The asset you cannot lose is the good you have done. You can only cancel it out by bad deeds, and only you can do that, too.
