If you mean the electrical connection: generally there are 3 wires: white, black and green. Connect the white and black to their matching partners with wire nuts. The green is ground and should be attached to the home box (in the cieling or wall) by a screw.
Be sure to turn off the circuit breaker first...the switch is not enough.

You need to follow the directions that come with it so you know which wire from the fixture goes to which wire that comes from the house.
Assuming that you don't have the instructions, the light fixture I removed and the new one I put in were both installed the same way. The wire with the writing went to the white wire from the house. The other wire went to the other house wire. The grounding screw from the fixture went to the bracket for the fixture.

Connect the black to the bronze screw and the white wire to the silver screw if the fixture has screws depends on the fixture it may have stranded wires coming out of it already. They will also be colored white black and green. Just connect your colors and your good to go. The ground wire from the house most likely will be bare copper with no insulation. Wire nuts will work fine. I cant stress enouph to people please SHUT THE POWER OFF.

Disconnect the power to your light fixture (use the appropriate switch on your breaker box). Connect the wires using an approved connector (hot to hot, cold to cold, ground to ground). Then turn the power back on. Voila!
NOTE: Always turn the power off at the breaker box. Do not rely on the light switch to turn the power off (there could be another circuit present in the fixture box).
