close but I'd have to say saudi oil sheiks. I am so outraged I am numb. I can't get angry anymore, it just makes me sick.

Saudi oil sheiks are just corrupt puppets. They own the largest oil corporation on earth but their people are starving and thus joinin the ranks of islamists. I do not think they have such a big influence on Bush or anybody.
However, Israel is a powerful country with a powerful diaspora active in US politics. And, US is a country where special interest groups are quiete active in politics. Jews are the ethnic group who have the highest GDP per capita in US and that gives them a big power in US politics. Thus, I believe they are quiete effective on every US president including Bush. Acoording to Paul Krugman, Iraq war is initiated to secure Israel rather than US. I tend to agree with him.

That's a close one but Bush owes some big time favors to the Saudi oil sheiks that bailed him out on several of his business misadventures.
