Personally I think the Best ever...
Quarterback is Brett Farve-Holds record for most games ever played, And is second in the career passing record with 414 Td's, plus a Super Bowl ring.
Runningback is Eric Dickerson-Voted Rookie offensive player of the year with 1808 yards rushing, He broke the all-time single-season record the following year with 2105 yards, and retired as the second all-time leading rusher.
Wide Reciever is Jerry Rice-Holds records of most yards recieving in a season, most Td's recieving in a season, Most yard's recieving in a career, and most Td's in a NFL career. Not to mention all the super bowls...

I like your gutsy Eric Dickerson call. ED was awesome, and definitely had the best 5 year stretch in history (3 times over 1800 yards, and would have been 4 without the strike). But Payton was the greatest allround back and had awesome durability. Got to go Sweetness.

As for Montana and Rice, they should be unquestioned.

Best ever

QB-Dan Marino-he holds the passing yards record, second in completion of passes, most passing touchdowns. He has been to the pro bowl 9 times and won the MVP award.

RB-Barry Sanders-3rd all time rusher in very few seasons, he was the first back to run for 1500 yards in five seasons, and the first to do so in four consecutive seasons, he set a record for 14 straight 100+ rushing games. If he did not quit early he would have broke all records that there could be.

WR-Jerry Rice-the guy says it all up there.


Only problem with Brett Farve is he almost has the record for most interceptions thrown, and he only has a career QB rating of 85.0. Refer to Steve Young who had a rating of 96.8.
Eric Dickerson was good, but i feel Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, and Emmit Smith have proven better.

First to throw an interesting perspective into this question I wanna throw out Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin as the best combination to be on a single team at once....
Individually:

QB- this is so broad and impossible im gonna go strictly by numbers and say Dan Marino, even though I realize he never one a superbowl like favre

RB-Emmitt Smith, how can you not like the all time leading rusher?? I remember one game he broke his shoulder or dislocated his shoulder or something and still rushed for 220 some odd yards with one good arm.

WR-Anybody who doesnt say Jerry Rice is biased, there are clearly alot of great receivers out there but Rice is a head at least above the rest

Favre? C'mon. Not even top 5. OK, maybe in a tie for 5. But DEFINITELY behind Unitas, Montana, Marino, Moon (yeah, that's right, Warren Moon).

Best QB: Johnny U. Anyone who says otherwise is either (a) younger than 40 and doesn't know any better, (b) a clown, or (c) all of the above.

Best RB: Toughest one to pick. I'll go with Walter Payton, cause Jim Brown is before my time. (Brown/Sanders/Smith/Payton are all pretty close).

Best WR: This one's a lock... Jerry Rice.

Joe Montana 4 time Super Bowl Champion, possible the greatest Clutch Player of all time. He performed his best on the biggest stages.

Barry Sanders Unstoppable, he had the ability to make other professional athletes look foolish. Never played on a great team, he had to shoulder the load for years. He retired in his prime, we will never know haw many yards he could have had.

Jerry Rice I can't stand him but his accomplishments speak for themselves.

Elway- 5 super bowl appearances. a combo of marino's gun for an arm, young's scrambling ability and montana's accuracy.

RB- Jim Brown. Jim's record was broken, but he only played about 10 years, then he persued an acting career.

WR- obviously Jerry Rice. He was owens x2 and without the tantrums. He did it all and with extreme durability.
