i have checked a vast array of fish books that i own and cannot find anything similar to what my corydora has at he back of his pec fin at the base he has a white sausage shaped growth that has overnight grown what looks like a tail a can't work out what it is and i don't want to infect my other fish what can i do. if you need a pic email me and i'll do my best to get one where it is visible

It sounds like an external parasite of some sort. I'm thinking maybe anchorworms? Here is a website with pics of just about any fish disease or parasite you can think of. It's really helpful for figuring out what is wrong, then you can google the disease/parasite for how to treat it.

at my school i work with our corydoras they had the same thing as yours. I put some chemicals in the water that kills the bacteria. After i put that in i wet a papertowel and took out the corydoras and i began picking off the bacteria with a tweezer. You have to be careful because you could hurt them. sounds like 'whitespot' or 'fin rot'.... check books for cures
