My father has a 05 road king with 12000 miles. He gets very good mileage going down the highway and still fairly good mileage in town. I know for the first 1000 miles or so, he only got like 35mpg, but after that it got up in the high 40s.
How many miles are on yours? is it not broken in yet?

I got 45 mpg, until I changed the exhaust and put the K&N aircleaner on it, then changed the settings on the injected motor for more power. It now get's 35-40 around town. It runs cooler, because I'm cooling the engine with more fuel. All new HD run way to lean. Mines a 2006 also.

Which engine?
I was getting 45mpg during break in on my TC88.
Still about 45 - 50 after minor mods.
'06 Dyna Superglide, not as heavy as a Road King, or full dresser.
