When i read the newspaper with the standings it always has the raptors 4th even when they lead the atlantic. Is that because the NBA won't have a losing record team in third seed? Just curious thanx.

Only guy who got it right is Adam

the NBA changed the seeding with the SA spur rule since they had the 2nd best record in the west but had the 4th seed because Dallas was first and in there division

and so the top 2 teams played eachother in the 2nd round

stern still likes to reward division winners so he put it so they have a top 4 seed for sure with another conference team in the same division as another division leader but with a better record than say the raptors would get either the 2 or 3 seed

so the raptors have there set spot as the 4th seed and that division winner can't go lower but if the 5th seeded team has a better record that team will get homecourt in the first round of the playoffs

the raptors really have the 4th seed and they can thank stern if they end up with it since they should be in 9th right now and out of the playoffs

The man above me is indeed right..

The NBA now takes the three division leaders in each conference, plus the team with the next best record, and seeds them 1-4, then 5-8 are based on records regardless of rank in division.

Therefore, if the raptors are indeed the atlantic champs, but the central champ and the south east champ, plus another team from one of those two conferences, all have better records than toronto, the raptors will be seeded 4th

Because they are on top of their divison which in standings for the playoffs counts more than how many wins you have. Like last year. The Pistons had 61-? and they were first. Then the heat had 59-?, and then the NETS who were 49-33 and they were on top of their divison. The Cavaliers were fourth even though they were 50-32, because they were in the same diision as the Pistons which means they get the 4th spot.!

The NBA changed its seeding system so that if a horrible tream wins their hoorible division, like last years nuggets, they are NOT guarenteed a playoff spot. This will make it so the teams are seeded by records.

AMANDUS V IS WRONG. IF YOU WIN YOUR DIVISION YOU WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS BUT YOU WILL BE SEEDED ACCORDING TO YOUR RECORD.
