My Dad has my original copy of my change of name document and i am trying to get a provisional driving licence. So i can start my driving lessons, but i am unable to get one because you have to send the original and i dont have one.

I cant get another original as there is only one which my parents have and wont give me back.

is there anyway i can get around this, without contacting him an causeing more trouble between us than there is already.

The place you had your name changed, will have a record of your legal name change.
Contact them, and tell them you need another copy.
Have them do the stamp to verify it's original.

May cost 10-20 $ but it's worth it!

Sorry your parent has your name change document.
It's actually your property.
In some states you can get a court order for them to return it.

Report it as stolen property, get a warrent and get it back!?!

Good luck.

Do you have your original birth certificate or any proof of id? if so you can take it to local register office and apply for your certificates. i did this for my original birth certificate as my name was change shortly after birth and i was trying to trace my natural parents. They will give you information like that as long as you can prove who you are.

Good luck

Have you tried contacting the registry office at which the name change was registered? I think for a small fee they can give you a new document.
