I ask this question because I am for a project I have I am going to draw someone with various job titles to his/her name, eg I could give him a chef hat, with a police uniform and a paint brush in one hand. This is only a rough idea but I thought i'd ask to see what jobs people felt were useful to us.

I dont know, I guess all job's could be considered important! but I would go with Doctor/Surgeon for sure!

Any job that influences other people. A doctor helps you get well. A lawyer helps you get money owed to you. A teacher educates you. Firemen rescues you out of burning buildings. An actor takes you away from the squalor of the real world. An athlete can help you relive your past athletic achievements. A trashman picks up your trash that otherwise would sit near your house gather mold, bugs and who knows what. I guess it partly depends on what's important to you. For me....It's nice to have actors and athletes around to entertain me, but I respect police officers, firemen/women, people in the military, teachers in poor schools, people in the peace corp, and etc more. They don't get paid very well, risk their lives, and help others.

Most definately. Without science, the human race would be at a loss. It has helped satisfy our curiosity about the universe around us as well as it has been beneficial to our health. :)

You could argue that without builders or other trades people we would have nothing but without architects, surveyors, engineers etc... they would have nothing to build or create.
