I am 33 weeks pregnant and have gestational diabetes.I take 3 shots a day of insulin.I was wondering for mothers who have had this-did your baby have to be put on an IV with sugar water after it was born?Was the baby healthy?Any info would be great-I am worried about how my baby will be after he is born!

I had GD but I was able to manage it with diet so I don't know if the results are any different than with insulin. My son was born fine and didn't have any complications due to the GD. He was 6 lbs. 13 oz. when he was born at 38 weeks gestation and he did not need any treatment. I won't tell you not to worry because it is natural that you will - but try to relax anyway.
I was informed however that once he was born that the GD would no longer be a problem but I should keep track of my health since GD is a good indicator that I would develop type II diabetes later.

my gestational diabetes was controlled by my diet and my sons sugar was fine. he was 6 wks early but fine...
