I am always lonely. It's only a matter of time before I snap.

Yes it's hell. I always think it means I'm emotionally sick. Then I try to talk to God and the line is busy. So those times are bad.
I cry out to the Holy Spirit and start begging like I'm gonna die.
I wait for him to come and give me a thought that quiets me down. Then I finally carry on and wonder what the heck that was all about. Weird. Doesn't happen but maybe once every few months now but I remember them all. Being an only child might have helped!! I don't know though. We all realize we are all alone in one way or another. If you really open up and scream for help someone just might answer and surprise you.

sounds like alienation, one makes themselves an alien to people they cannot abide
what works for me is forgiving everyone for being petty, stupid, shallow, etc.
once you show compassion for your fellow man, instead of revulsion, your alienation will pass.

and, if you say you like people but can't help being lonely and isolated - ask yourself, do you *really* like people? why so, why not? remember that you are not being watched and judged everywhere you go - that comes from the inside, not the outside.

when we don't like others we often don't like ourselves either. Somewtimes the best place to start is liking yourself - try being your own biggest fan for a while. It can do wonders for your disposition -- delight in your flaws also. And when you form your personal fan club, make sure you highlight the things about you that make you so worth being a fan of you. With time, you will find others will like those things too, and you will actually like the similar and complimentary things you see in them.

Make frioends with that person in the mirror, call a truce, sew some new seeds in yourself and see what sprouts. And when you have built up your courage, figure out what it is about you that people don't like being around (we all have them) and avoid those things. And if you feel that the people around you aren't worth the effort - then value them because the alternative is loneliness. =)

I have just emigrated to Australia from the UK and this is exactly how I feel. Its ok to say 'go out into nature and everything will be ok', but I am in one of the most beautiful places in the World, and it isn't working for me. Some social interaction might do the trick, but it is so hard to initiate these (especially as an outsider). So, yes, it is absolutely awful. But please, try to work through it.

Warmth and Smiles..

What you describe is common to many, and is the result of spending all your time worshiping the world of your own thoughts. The more time you spend there, the father branched out on the tree you become, and the harder it is for anyone to reach you, or for you to find anyone to relate to. If you wish to escape, Wake Up from the dreamworld of your thoughts and go out in Nature and Walk, Look and Listen. You will find beauty, harmony, and balance there, and if you do it long enough, you will discover that those things are in you as well. Don't wait, do it now.
