What do i need to have ready for the tax preparer.

you should ask the tax preparer. our firm sends out organizers to our clients to help them get ready.

You'll need any forms you get in the mail like W-2's or 1099s.. Also bring in (as organized as possible) your records of business income and expenses. Bring along last year's return, your social security card and that of any dependents - copies are OK. If you expect to itemize or think that you might be able to, bring in your records of all possibly deductible expenses.

And if you're married and planning to file joint, bring your spouse if possible.
