It sounds like you have badware. To clean your computer, follow these steps.
1. Download adaware from http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html.
2. Install adaware and run it at least once to update the definition files.
3. Download and install spybot S&D from
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html?tag=lst-4-3
4. Install SpyBot and run it at least once to update the program.
5. Restart your computer, and hit F8 before the Windows loading screen comes up.
6. Select Safe Mode.
7. Run Adaware and SpyBot in safe mode to ensure a clean system of spyware and adware.

Heheh : )

You should have asked this Question BEFORE Buying the new hard drive.

Let me explain ..

The Hard Drive increases the Storage Capacity of your computer.

The RAM increases the amount of work your computer can do at a time, thus, increases speed.

Your computer got slow because you must be using softwares that uses a lot of resource.

What more you did wrong was putting in a new hard drive. That should decrease the speed more, because the computer now, has to deal with more files.

To fix this problem cheaply, you should immediately buy a new RAM.

RAM isn't really that expensive, you can buy it online or from a local retailer.

Once you buy it, you should ask your freind/family who has knowledge about hardware to plug it in for you.

I hope this solves your problems.

p.s - if there are no retail computer hardware shops near you, just Google " BUY RAM " and follow one of the first links and compare.

i dont know much about the RAM stuff, but im sure u'll find something on ebay.com or any pc store nearby.
other reasons may be of ur antivirus, they can slow ur pc, try mcafee suite(works 4 me).

also try uninstalling programs, especially the ones that run during startup. if u want a gud luk on these programs get the CCleaner software that will giv u a summary of programs and will also delete ur registry(which also slows down pc).
other programs that can help u r:
-WinOptimizer
-registry cleaner
-spyware doctor 4.0(to check 4 any spyware)

get them from download.com
also empty the unused program list from Start-all programs-startup... dont delete programs u dont know. wish u luck

yes, fortunately there is, go to your nearest dell manufacture or anyc computer shop for that matter and ask them for RAM chips for your system. They arent so expensive and make sure u give them the right model for your pc coz some ram chips are not compatible for some computers..then make sure you run 'disk cleanup' every once in a while bu going to start -- all programs -- accessories -- system tools --- disk cleanup. also run disk defragmenter to keep your system files intact and organised..this should surely run your system..also download nice computer tools like registry mechanic from pc tools..it helps you correct registry problems and makes you pc run faster..also look through your computer if there are any programs you dont need and uninstall them because they just eat up your memory..and lastly increase your virtual memory pr page memory..simply right click on the 'my computer' icon on your desktop or go to control panel and double click on he 'system' icon..then click on the advanced tab and under Performance click on 'Settings'. Then on the small window that pops up click on the 'advanced' tab again and wher it says 'Virtual Memory' click on Change...then increase your virtual memory accordingly..after click OK in all windows...that ought to work abit...

On top of doing as others wrote.. More ram is better but make the best of what you have

Turn off some running programs they will be in bottom right corner of screen.. They can be turned off by right clicking and shutting down ..

You can keep them from running by typing msconfig in the RUN box and go to start up tab most can be shut off that aren't part of system operations..

Delete programs out of start up ..They will still run if you click them in programs ..
to shut down start> programs>start up //delete them..

Get spybot search and destroy you can find in any search engine..

For ram check Tigerdirect.com or newegg.com If your computer has slowed down, you might want to reload your operating system. You may also try defraging your hard drives.

How often do you disk cleanup and defrag? Do you have a lot of downloaded stuff on there? If you can answer these then you may have your problem solved, especially getting rid of anything you don't use on there.

you need to know whattype of ram is right for your computer, if you take it to a local computer store they should be able to help (they may charge for advice) I advise minimum 512MB of RAM.
