Do you mean IVF? Many people do it. I have a friend who decided that she waited long enough for the right man to come along. Finally when she got sick of waiting she decided to visit a fertility clinic where she was able to choose a donor.
There is no surgery involved and whether you are married or single only you can decide if it is appropriate for yourself. Make sure you know the pros and cons of being a single mom. In this case you do have a choice so it should be made wisely.

Appropriate to get a baby surgically... what? Your question doesn't make sense. Are you asking about being able to conceive without a partner? Then, the answer is yes. You can go to a fertility specialist for that. I'm not sure how much extra the cost is for purchasing donated semen, but the actual treatments can be costly. You can get Invitro-fertilization done. The procedure alone can cost you thousands (about $7,000 - $10,000) PER treatment. This is not including the meds. Artificial insemination costs less, but there is a higher chance of multiple births with this treatment. Also, most insurance companies do not cover these procedures either.

My suggestion is that you do your research. A lot of people are against these procedures due to religious reason and/or personal reasons. However, when it comes down to it, it's really up to the person.

Get a baby surgically???? Are you referring to in vitro or being inseminated??? If that's what you mean, then that is up to you. #1 are you financially able and do you and others feel your mature enough? Your life will change drastically (single or not). I am more in favor of adopting a child in need rather than bringing another child into the world who may or may not be wanted. As far as 'appropriate' or not, that is a personal decision and some think it's right, others do not.

Thats not for anyone else to decide. Its how you feel that counts. But, do think of the child. Do you think they'll be affected, growing up without a father? If you feel you can cope and your finacially stable then i dont see a problem with it. But i am also in favour of adoption; there are so many children who need homes, instead of bringing more into the world.

Appropriate** And you don't get the baby surgically. I think you need to study up on this before you even ask this question. Look up test tube pregnancy. Also know it would be irresponsible of you t go out and get pregnant in this manner if you don't have a great career.

I say unaprp. b/c at some point child will ask about daddy. I will go tord adoption over surg. A surgical baby will be another minority group.

It's very expensive. In 2002 it was $10,000 and that is for one try, three eggs and if none of them take then more money for another try. Also if it does work for you, you have a chance of having twins or triplets.

it all depends on your situation i think children need bother parents but i also understand that women can really want a baby. if the women in financially stable and has all things in her life worked out it wouldn't be as bad.
