My baby has been balling up lately. That's normal, right? With me being 31 weeks? I thought so, just curious and one more thing.. I have this pain on my right side.. near my ribs, I know it's not the baby because I've felt him in my ribs before. What could that be? And one more thing.. :) What position is the baby usually in at 31 weeks, Has he turned already? when do women usually feel their baby, "Flip" and all that? I feel him kick ALL the time just don't know what else to look or feel for? Thanks a bunch!

The tightening or balling up are Braxton-Hicks contractions. It is just your uterus praticing for labor and is very, very normal. If they bother you try changing positions while they are happening or urinating. It can help.

At 31 weeks the baby can be in any position still. Lightening (when the baby drops into the pelvis) can occur anytime up to around 4 weeks before delivery. Still I have heard many stories of babies being in the breech position until just before labor so you never really know unless you have an ultrasound.

I am not sure about the rib pain. You are pregnant so all kinds of things are happening. Ask your doctor about it at your next visit-maybe they will know.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Well at 31 weeks there's nowhere else for your organs to go, so the pain in your right could be your organs being 'squished' by that baby groiwng. Even IF he has turned at 31 weeks that doesn't mean he won't flip a few more times. When he STOPS kicking ALL the time, then you'll know it's getting closer. Once they are usually in position they are going to stop or slow down the kicking. I am sure that your doctor is keeping a good eye on you and will let you know (probably closer to 38 weeks) if baby has been 'cooperative' enough to head on down the line. Best of luck (mom of 4 here).

Once again, I'm also 31 weeks. I have the pain under the right side of my ribs also. I asked my doctor about it today and he said that it's just because when the baby stretches, the uterus stretches also and it can be painful more so on the right side because the baby may be touching the liver. I didn't think it was possible but my doctor says that due to the baby growing so much that all of the organs are up higher. It's nothing to worry about.
At 31 weeks, the baby should already be in the head down position. My doctor checked me for that today and confirmed that he was already in the position he needed to be in for delivery. He will stay like that until delivery, and you usually don't feel him "flip". He kind of just rolls into position. Don't worry so much. All the worry will just stress you and the baby out. Congrats and good luck to you.

I thought my girl had flipped...now I can't figure out where she's at. I've been good through out my pregnancy of knowing how she was situated. I'm going on 34 weeks and she seems all over the place now. I'm feeling kicks and punches in knew places as well as the old. I'm just glad she's still being mobile, makes me nervous when she's not.
As for the pain I get the sharp pain in my side like when I'd run even when I'm not doing anything. I just breathe through it it usually goes away like a side stitch.

Pain in the ribs could just be everything squishing up, I get pain when i sit slouched over and stuff. The baby has usually gone head down by I think 26 weeks (not 100 percent sure though) my babies head is sitting directly on my bladder, not fun!

At 26 weeks I had to have an ultrasound and my baby is already head down. Same with my 3rd son, he was head down at 4 months on. Yes its normal for the baby to ball up. Mine does all the time, or will go to just one side and ball up. Good Luck :)

He could be putting pressure on nerve which is causing rib pain. My baby flipped at about 34 weeks.
