Hi Carlie,I stopped 9 weeks ago.
I used a book called "the easy way to stop smoking" by Allen Carr.
Its brilliant,I read it all in 4 hours and havent touched a ciggie since,it has been really easy,im still amazed.
You can smoke while your reading it I did ,then he says have your last cig now ,and i didnt even want one.He has a 53% success rate, nicotine replacement only has a 26% success rate,he doesnt advise nicotine replacement because it only takes 3 days for it to leave your body and like he says ,why keep putting it back in for weeks when it will be gone after 3 days
anyway.
Good luck hun ,you can do it ,I feel fantastic for doing it.

The first time that I tried to give up smoking I used gum and only managed it for 4 months. The second time I went cold turkey and have now given up for 18 months. But this is my story, my mum who smoked for 30 years gave up successfully using patches, she has now been a non smoker for 2 and a half years.
Good luck to you, and no matter what you try stick with it, it is worth it in the end. I wish I had done it sooner!

I think it kinda depends how much u smoke and for how long, If you have smoked alot for a long time i would slowly quit, but otherwise, this is what i did...I quit for 5 years cold turkey, but last year i started again, i had like a few a day and when i drank on the weekends i smoked like a whole pack, and this went on for a year , last week i just stopped..i am not going to hang out as much with my friends who smoke until i feel strong enough to say no, and i make sure i have a pack of gum, and eat a stick everytime i crave one, it sucks but , smoking is sooo soo bad i can't do it anymore, just the fact of being healthy and reducing your risk of cancer, heart disease should be enough!! stay strong it's all in your head!!

Oh, Carlie, I wish you the very best. Smoking is a horrible addiction. I tried a zillion things and stopped a gazillion times. Finally, a few years ago, cold turkey worked. I still dream of the stupid things occasionally. And the minute a doctor tells me I have a terminal illness, I will buy a carton. Until then .... I am rooting for you.

Sorry I don't have any tips because I've never picked up the habit. My mom quit over 20 yrs ago and she did it by replacing cigs with gum. Not nicotine gum because it wasn't around much at that time. Just regular everyday gum.
My dad also managed to quit 7 years ago after 50 yrs of smoking and he just did it cold turkey.
I just wanted to tell you that I think it's great that you're giving it up. That means you have a much longer life and be way healthier to prove it.
Good Luck
Take Care,

The patches are pretty good but watch your ok with the glue as i got a rash off it.
If you go cold turkey then your more likely to start again.
And make sure that you get plenty of sugar free lolly pops as this will help you not to start eating crap.

It helps tremendously with cravings! I quit 3 years ago after smoking a pack a day for 15 years. It took away the physical (body) craving but you still deal with the psychological (mental) cravings. It is all so worth it in the end! I feel healthier and you won’t believe how much money you can save!
