My wife had a period on my birthday Oct. 20th, then she skipped two months and tested negative for pregnancy twice. She spotted around Dec. 15th. then on January 2nd her period returned heavy she keeps having back aches that come and go, period is heavy and still today Jan 8th its not stopped yet. Should we be concerned. Is it normal when a woman skips 2 months and period returns for her to go longer and heavier? I just hope nothing is wrong, in the 11 months she has been off the pill this is the first time its happened, but she told me in the long ago past her cycles were real irregular and she would sometimes bleed a long while. But I know the body changes so we arent dwelling on her past years to tell us whats this is all about.

It is common enough for that to happen. If she is overstressed, it will definitely cause skipped periods. And, once a few periods have been skipped, it's normal for the next one to be heavier. She should still see her doctor to get her cycle back on track. He/she may prescribe birth control or other medicines for this reason. Good luck.

It's best to have her gynocologist perform an exam to be safe. Often after stopping the pill women can have no periods or unusal periods. Even 11 months later. Talk to the Gyno. about that as well. Skipping a month or two and spotting is not that uncommon. Many factors can also increase or decrease bleeing during menstruation too. Stress is one of them, lack of proper rest, poor diet, alcohol or aspirin intake, etc. I wish you both the best.

if she has usual pain with this and remains heavy, this might continue a bit longer.
starting and stopping birth control is a sometime culprit, but sounds like enough time has passed since she stopped the pill.
pain is the indicator, monitor and don't wait for an appointment, go to a clinic, doctor if it gets unbearable
