You might like to try and get a Dunn & Bradstreet report on both of them. It doesn't reveal the current marketing strategy but it sure dishes the financial dirt and shows where things have gone pear shaped previously.

I doubt they'd let you know their actual marketing strategy, as it's usually confidential. However, you can look at their mission statement, compare it to their current marketing and made deductions based on that. Or, if you're feeling a bit pushy, contact their marketing deparment and see how much information they may actually give you!

Check out company website, if not write to companys head office and ask them to send you an information pack, some companies do this - i have such packs from sony and sega when playstation and sega's saturn were released and were very helpful as to how they ran marketing strats.

Another thought is to reverse engineer their thinking by looking at the advertising and re-branding of the company.
